Independent financial planning since 1989. We advise solely in our clients’ interest.
Our philosophy
W&P follows a simple philosophy: we use our talent and our technology to create outstanding value for our clients. To achieve that, W&P relies above all on its people and its partners. They are at the centre of everything we do. That was true then, it is true today, and it will be true tomorrow.
“Want to know what your client really wants? Ask them. Don’t tell them.”
Niels Fechner, Managing Director

Our story
1989 – 1993
1989
W&P’s roots go back to 1989. From the outset the firm focused on fund-linked provision and long-term wealth building through the capital markets, an advisory approach that still shapes the company today.
1990
German reunification opened up new prospects. W&P began building advisory structures in the new federal states early on.
1991–1996
Activity focused on the new federal states. Numerous branches and client service offices opened in Berlin, Brandenburg, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, Thuringia and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. At times more than 600 employees and sales partners worked for the firm.
1993
Building an in-house client service organisation to look after a steadily growing client base professionally.
1995 – 1999
1995
W&P became a registered training company, investing deliberately in the education of commercial and insurance professionals. Developing new talent remains an important part of the culture to this day.
1996
Launch of the first trainee programme to develop the firm’s own future leaders. From early on, W&P focused on qualification and on keeping people for the long term.
1997–1998
Development of “Optimus”, the firm’s first in-house administration and advisory system, an early foundation for structured client care and modern back-office processes.
1997–1999
W&P received the Silver Order of Merit from the Deutsche Verkehrswacht for its work in road safety education for children.
1998
The firm celebrated its tenth anniversary and concentrated its activity firmly on Berlin and the new federal states.
1999
By now W&P was looking after around 35,000 clients, through a nationwide network of advisers and service offices.
2001 – 2011
2001
The introduction of state-subsidised pension schemes widened the options for private retirement planning. W&P built these into its advisory process early.
2002
The head office moved to Potsdam, marking the start of a new phase of strategic development.
2005–2016
The financial and insurance industry went through far-reaching regulatory change, permanently reshaping the profession. W&P used this period to professionalise its advice, documentation and qualifications further, and to keep developing the business.
2008
Twentieth anniversary.
2011
W&P moved its head office to Badenallee in Berlin. From here the firm’s development was shaped for many years to come.
2014 – 2019
2014
A new generation of leadership joined, beginning the strategic realignment of the firm for the decades ahead.
2014–2017
Comprehensive development of the corporate strategy and preparation of a distinctive advisory approach.
2016–2018
Development of the “W&P Wirtschaftsplan”, a distinctive advisory approach that brings provision, wealth building, protection and untapped financial potential together into a single concept. The master plan remains the foundation of the firm’s philosophy and of how W&P sees itself as a financial planner.
2016
As one of the few firms in the industry, W&P successfully built up a salaried field force. At the same time, independent general agencies and selected licensed partners remained an important part of the business. This combination of employed advisers, general agencies and licensed partners is still a particular strength of W&P today.
2017
Renamed W&P Wirtschaften mit Plan GmbH. The new name underlined the strategic focus on holistic financial planning.
2017–2019
W&P became a specialist partner for occupational pensions and salary sacrifice arrangements.
2019
The master plan was extended to small and medium-sized businesses.
2020 – 2024
2020–2022
The coronavirus pandemic put the whole economy under strain, and face-to-face advice was barely possible for a time. W&P invested steadily in digital advisory processes. The business carried on without redundancies or job cuts.
since 2022
The leadership was reorganised and the next generation of the firm’s development began. W&P continues firmly on its path as an owner-managed business.
2024
Thirty-five years of W&P. What was once a regional financial services firm has become a modern advisory business with a clear specialism in financial planning and wealth building.
2024
Moving into the historic water tower. In May 2024 W&P moved its head office into new premises in the historic water tower on Akazienallee in Berlin. The remarkable setting combines tradition, character and a forward-looking outlook, and frames the next chapter of the company’s story.
2025 – 2029
2025
W&P became “W&P Die Wirtschaftsplaner GmbH”. The new name makes visible what the firm has stood for over many years: holistic financial planning rather than product sales.
2026
The future is digital. W&P is moving its internal processes almost entirely to paperless working, while investing steadily in digital advisory processes, automation and modern assistance systems. The aim is to cut administrative effort, raise the quality of advice further and free up more time for what matters: looking after our clients personally.
2029
Forty years of W&P: four decades of experience, willingness to change and continuous development. A foundation on which we will shape the future too.
